A start...a ordinary start...but a start.
On Monday I started my 15 week build up to the New York Marathon. Today is day 4. Can’t say I have set the world on fire so far. I have been injured in one way or another for pretty much the last two years.i still have pain in my ankle and heel but pretty much just accept that as part of life. Couple of weeks ago I staggered through the Gold Coast Half Marathon at snail’s pace. But at least I did it and know that I can plod over 21 km should I have a mind to. However a MARATHON is twice as far. I have a very long way to go to reach any sort of fitness. As to speed....well that is even further away. Ok then....this is my training for the first 4 days. Monday. Morning....a fairly ordinary 14 km or so over hilly course. Stopped for gel at half way and for water at 11km Afternoon....gym....upper body Tuesday. Midday....joined the Melbourne Midday Milers for some ‘ faster ‘ running. I could not keep up. Still my legs got some exercise. Afternoon...gym....upper body and...
